Are you fascinated by the fire service? JOHSTADT builds pumps and technology for extinguishing fires and offers an exciting training in the production as a Cutting Machine Operator*, Industrial Mechanic* or Construction Mechanic*.
PF Pumpen und Feuerlöschtechnik GmbH develops, produces and sells pumps for fire fighting, industry, agriculture and biogas under the brand JOHSTADT with over 110 employees. With an export share of more than 70 percent, the products are delivered from the Erzgebirge to all continents.
Your theoretical training is supplemented at a vocational school (in Annaberg-Buchholz or Zschopau) with practical time in the company’s own apprentice workshop with constant supervision by the instructor. JOHSTADT offers a tried and tested program – from manual skills (filing/drilling/sawing) to handling conventional and CNC-controlled machines to assembling and testing our pumps.
The dual vocational training teaches you everything you need to contribute to the success of the company after successfully completing your training.

JOHSTADT trains:
- Cutting Machine Operator*
Cutting Machine Operators* are responsible for the machine-supported production of the individual parts of the pumps in mechanical production and use machining processes such as turning, milling, grinding or drilling. They program the machines, set them up, manufacture the parts and monitor their own production process.
Duration of training: 3.5 years
- Construction Mechanic*
Construction Mechanics* produce welded assemblies from prefabricated parts. Using the MAG and TIG processes, they weld pump housings, base frames and pipe connections, among other things, in accordance with drawings.
Duration of training: 3.5 years
- Industrial Mechanic*
Industrial Mechanics* work in assembly at JOHSTADT. They produce a functional pump or pump unit from the individual parts and assemblies manufactured by Cutting Machine Operators and Construction Mechanics. It is particularly important that the pump is assembled according to the drawing and functions properly.
Duration of training: 3.5 years

Aside from "normal" production, you will learn all the necessary skills in our training workshop: Depending on the training occupation, these include manual skills (e.g. filing, sawing, drilling, edging), conventional and CNC machine training (turning, milling, grinding), assembling and disassembling components, assemblies and systems, and welding (MAG and TIG).
Our full-time trainer is always available to give you advice and support. From the middle of the 3rd year of your apprenticeship, you will move into practical production to learn about activities and processes. You will meet your future colleagues and get an idea of our workplaces. But don't worry: even during this time, you should mainly be learning and not producing. So keep your eyes open and ask questions if something is unclear! Our team will support you.
